In a stunning turn of events, President Bola Tinubu has taken decisive action by relieving the Chief of Defence Staff, all the nation's Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali, and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali, of their duties.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, made the shocking announcement on Monday in Abuja, sending shockwaves across the nation.

Amidst this security overhaul, President Tinubu wasted no time in appointing a new lineup. Notable appointments include Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. C.G Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. T. A Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff, AVM H.B Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff, DIG Kayode Egbetokun as Acting Inspector-General of Police, and Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

Furthermore, President Tinubu approved the following appointments within the Presidential Villa: Col. Adebisi Onasanya as Commander, Brigade of Guards; Lt. Col. Moshood Abiodun Yusuf, Lt. Col. Auwalu Baba Inuwa, Lt. Col. Mohammed J. Abdulkarim, and Lt. Col. Olumide A. Akingbesote as commanding officers of various battalions.

Adding to the sweeping changes, the President appointed two additional Special Advisers and two Senior Assistants. Hadiza Bala Usman was named Special Adviser for Policy Coordination, Hannatu Musa Musawa as Special Adviser for Culture and Entertainment Economy, Sen. Abdullahi Abubakar Gumel as Senior Special Assistant for National Assembly Matters (Senate), and Hon. (Barr) Olarewaju Kunle Ibrahim as Senior Special Assistant for National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).

In the midst of these seismic shifts, Adeniyi Bashir Adewale was appointed as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs.

It is important to note that the newly appointed Service Chiefs, Inspector-General of Police, and Comptroller General of Customs will serve in acting capacities pending their confirmation in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as emphasized by the SGF.
