Police Issue Dire Warning to Skit Makers: Danger Looms as Extreme Pranks Put Nigerians at Risk!
In a recent development, the Nigeria Police have expressed grave concern and issued a stern caution to comedians and skit makers who rely on pranks as their source of income. The police have urged these individuals to exercise control as their actions are jeopardizing the safety of Nigerian citizens.
According to the police, the creators of pranks and skits must refrain from engaging in offensive, perilous, or unlawful activities that could endanger lives or subject people to dehumanization.
A video released by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and obtained by Vanguard, shed light on this growing issue. CSP Adejobi emphasized that while the awareness is not intended to impede skit makers' work, actions such as brandishing firearms or assaulting unsuspecting individuals in public are extreme and disapproved by security forces.
"We believe it is crucial to address this matter and provide guidance to our people. Let us exercise caution and regulate our actions. Although we cannot ask you to cease your business or deny you your livelihood, the situation has become highly dangerous," stated CSP Adejobi.
CSP Adejobi further highlighted a concerning incident involving a popular skit maker who physically assaulted Nigerians as part of his pranks, emphasizing that such behavior amounts to an offense and requires regulation.
"This situation is spiraling out of control, and it is time for us to reflect. To those engaged in pranks, be mindful of your actions to prevent them from becoming offenses, as the law applies to everyone. Even if you believe someone is not dressed appropriately, does it warrant using a cane to beat them as if they were your own child? I don't think you should subject your daughter to such treatment," added Adejobi.
The Nigeria Police's warning comes as a response to the escalating risks associated with extreme pranks, urging skit makers to prioritize public safety and act responsibly.
